Rise Up & Reach Back Scholarship Luncheon
The Rise Up and Reach Back Scholarship luncheon was developed to pay tribute to WBAI members who have personified the spirit of the great Esther Rothstein, the President of the WBAI in 1961, when she challenged all women attorneys "not to give back to others because we have to, but because we can." This spirit was echoed by Carol Marin in her keynote speech at the 2008 WBAI Annual Dinner when she called on WBAI members to Rise Up and Reach Back.
On January 20, 2012, WBAI members celebrated its Fourth Annual Rise Up and Reach Back Scholarship luncheon. At the luncheon, the WBAI paid tribute to certain women for having demonstrated visionary approaches to their professional accomplishments, while freely giving back to other women and members of the legal profession, and making a contribution to the well-being and empowerment of women as a whole by bestowing upon them an Esther Rothstein Scholarship Award. In the true spirit of the event, all proceeds from the luncheon have been contributed to the Women’s Bar Foundation to be used for law school scholarships.
