Civic Involvement
Women Everywhere
Women Everywhere ("WE") is a volunteer collective in the Chicagoland area aimed at soliciting and coordinating volunteer activities on behalf of women and children. WE coordinates two annual events:
- Its Community Service Day, on which they dispatch hundreds of volunteers to help women and children at approximately 30 Chicagoland agencies by painting, building, gardening or cleaning, as well as sponsoring educational activities and presenting seminars on legal topics of interest. The WBAI is usually assigned to volunteer with the New Moms, Inc. organization in Humboldt Park on Community Service Day, which seeks to enable, empower, and equip at-risk adolescent parents and their children through services and mentoring based on Christian values. All WBAI members are encouraged and welcome to volunteer and coordinate our visit to New Moms where we usually present to the girls on legal topics in the areas of family and employment law.
- Its Educational Program for high school girls, which emphasizes women's strides towards equality in voting and employment and invites the girls to participate in activities such as courthouse tours, mock trials, speakers, and panelists.
Through WE, and the Bar groups with which it collaborates, several hundred volunteers, including federal and state judges, attorneys, and friends of the legal community donate time to the Community Service Day and Educational Program each year.
