Financial Secretary: Eugena Whitson-Owen

Eugena (Gena) Whitson-Owen is an associate at the Law Offices of Kurt E. Olsen, in house counsel for Zurich Insurance. Gena is an experienced trial attorney specializing in defense of construction, product liability, toxic tort, and premises liability.  Throughout her career, Gena has tried multiple cases to verdict representing owners, developers, general contractors, and subcontractors, as well as manufacturers and distributors, in all matters of construction and product liability litigation.  She also counsels her clients on risk management, insurance issues, contract review, and litigation management.  She is licensed to practice in the United States Supreme Court and Illinois state and federal courts and is a member of the Federal Trial Bar.

Gena was named to the Illinois Rising Stars* list in 2008 and 2009, a peer review designation published by Law & Politics magazine.  Gena has also been named a Fellow to The Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society established to reflect the new face of the American bar.

A proud member of the WBAI, Gena has served on the Board of Directors since 2007.  She is currently the Financial Secretary to the Board.  Gena was the Co-Chair of the WBAI’s Annual Golf Outing from 2004 to 2009.

Gena and her husband, Brian, are the proud parents of Jake and Abigail.
